Jon and Sean’s Skaha Adventure

We’re back from an awesome 4 days of climbing in Skaha, highlights of which include:

- meeting awesome strangers and sleeping in their orchard

- winding through a cave in the middle of the night (with above strangers)

- really drunk people in the campsite next to ours

- rappelling into a dark chasm and not knowing if we’d be able to get out (turns out they have wifi in here!)

- amazing climbing and a ton of routes

- excellent weather, except for that bit where it rained

Stories and pictures to come, promise.

Mt Baldy

It’s a pre-season classic really and we went and tackled it yesterday. One of the only clear mountains around always a good scramble we worked our way up to the main summit and back down before the rains came; and when they did we were already enjoying a pint at Woody’s!

Climbing at Grotto

The weather today was fantastic and even though I (seem to believe that) I have tons to do the prospect of climbing was just too strong. Sean and I headed out to Grotto Canyon for the day.

The first wall we tried was pretty good, lots of good climbs in our range but there was a lot of polishing at the bottom… almost like a creek ran through there!

Paintings Wall: Scavenger8 (9) <– this one was my favourite of the day and we did a few laps of it

Yup, some wicked moves…. and no cheating, I swear!

Upper Right Wing: Cameo* (9) <– This was right at the end of the day and between us we barely had enough forearm strength to grunt to the top… it was not pretty!

Sean setting up on Cameo

Right before the slowest fall I have ever seen!

All in all we had an awesome day and I’m pretty bagged tonight. I hope the weather holds for the rest of the week so that more mountain trips will follow.

Picture post, cause I’m lazy

The sunset tonight was pretty cool… this was shot from behind a Safeway while leaning on a shaky fence

I like birds that sit still

Yup, lots of still birds. I swear the compression artifacts will go away if you click on it.

Ah yes, big fluffy clouds. This one started making lightening, it was pretty cool.

I also went bouldering in a local gym for a an hour after work and played around on the slack line too, it was fun.
