On Saturday we (Andrea, Erica and I) headed up I25 north towards Boulder and then up to Estes Park and the Stanley Hotel.

Where? Yup, the Stanley Hotel. It’s the place where Stephen King go the inspiration to write The Shining although unfortunately the movie wasn’t actually shot there. One movie that was shot there was the ubiquitous Dumb and Dumber. The shot where they run up the stairs in the crazy tuxedos was shot there, as was the one where Jim Carrey comes down the stairs to meet Mary at the bar. Apparently it’s the #1 haunted hotel in the USA although while we were there we didn’t get to see any sort of crazy ghost activity. We did however get to go inside room 217, which is the most haunted room in the hotel oooooh!

Hallway to room 217
Afterwards we climbed up behind the hotel and played around on some rocks to get a few better shots of the countryside. This one is one of my favourites

It was a really hot day and all we could think of was getting back to the car and the a/c and the water! Fortunately the car took us back to Boulder where we enjoyed street performers, and Pearl Street (a walking street similar to Stephen Ave) and a roof top patio with excellent beer and monstrous nachos!
On a housing related note, I went to see a kick ass place today that I’m going to apply for and since it’s vacant right now there is a good chance I could move in really soon. The other place is still tied up unfortunately and is going to court on Thursday this week and then… who knows. Bah! I’m pretty much pining my hopes on the new place now (c: It’s a little closer to the mountains anyway!
