Calgary

I’m in Calgary now and it’s cooold! We had a family thing yesterday out in Red Deer and it was really good to see everyone again. Since I took off in July I haven’t really seen much of my family and so seeing the extended side was excellent. Today there’s another old-neighbourhood get together and then wings and beer on Monday… I’m excited for wings and beer.

Hopefully the weather will warm up and we can get out skiing at least once or twice and hang out in the mountains a little too… I miss my Canadian Rocky Mountains (c:

Beaver Creek CO

I went for a drive today out to Beaver Creek. It’s a “Vail” resort that is just a little west of where Vail sits. It was pretty swank and parking was a little on the costly side so I used up my 2hrs of free parking and hit the road again. I’m not sure if I’m into the whole uber-commerical resort thing yet, it still seems like a far cry to me from purist skiing… but I guess thats the point isn’t it? It’s about business more than skiing. Speaking of business I popped into their ticket hut to see what a pass cost and it was $90 for the day(!) and $1899 for a season pass!!Wow… I sure feel good about my $570 invested in an Epic pass now!

Anyway, here are some shots from Beaver Creek, hope you enjoy.

There was a cool sunset tonight on my way home but I couldn’t find a great place to get pictures from.

Snow

It snowed 4″ in Denver on the weekend, my truck was completely covered, and today I was walking around in a short-sleeve shirt this afternoon!

Also, Vail got over 8″ on the weekend… and I’m sitting here with a twisted ankle! Boo urns.

On a third note, I went forĀ  a consult today with a laser vision correction place, and they turned out to be excellent. So excellent in fact that I booked an appointment for 15 Jan to get my eyes zapped! Woohoo (c:
