It’s official, we’re definitely into spring skiing conditions! It is possible that we’ve been there for a while I didn’t notice, but today it was impossible not to notice. I’d actually figured that the season was over and had all but put my skis away, but after the huge dump Friday/Saturday I absolutely had to get out to the hills and do some skiing. I ended up at A-Basin (“A” being short for “Arapahoe” which is apparently some sort of Indian band that used to ski a lot…) (I wouldn’t trust that, I just made that up) which was packed with people, more so than I’d ever seen before. On the shuttle back to my car at the end of the day the guy was saying it’s the first time in 5 years that they had to turn people away, there was no where to park them!
I got up the chair just as they opened the East Wall… and it was glorious! They had kept it closed for the three days previous as it snowed and this morning they had finally completed the avi bombing and control and opened it up.
